As a New Producer, I have learned to create anchor moments and showcase the news for the day. From breaking news to Super Bowl coverage producing at KY3 has taught me a lot.

April 2, 2024, was municipal election day in Missouri. This newscast highlights the different races in the Ozarks and throughout the state,
Thursday, March 14th we had several severe storms come through our area. During this newscast I broke down all the different storms into elements.
This complete newscast is from the March 5th, Super Tuesday election. Since our DMA covers northern Arkansas we were able to highlight all of their local elections. In addition to this, we had several interactive touch hits during this newcast.
In one week, we had two homicides almost right at 8 p.m. This was a week of changing up the show at the last minute. And, trying to get a reporter on the scene and all the information to our viewers by 9 p.m.

What was supposed to be a normal Valentine’s Day newscast was blown out by the tragic Kansas City rally shooting. Since we are within three hours of KC it hit close to home. This newscast was a lot for us producers because in addition to the shooting, the 5 minute investigative piece had no audio during our 8:30 p.m. run-through. We were scrambling to fix it — and we succeeded.
February 21 — county detectives announced a break in a 34-year-old cold case. The start of this newscast was centered around showcasing that case, threats at a school, and catching criminals. Half-way through we showcased the weather with a weather photo from the area.
This was a lighter newcast ahead of the Super Bowl, we started with a little hail and ended with our Sports Director live in Las Vegas to cover the Chiefs.
While we have some fun shots at KY3, there are some limitations to our set. During this a-block, I made it my goal to try and test those limitations. We added a slow zoom intro and an MPA to RPA walk.
